Diaper Rash
Diaper rash is a common problem that usually affects children who wear diapers. However, it can also affect adults who wear underwear and undergarments regularly.
The rash appears as a red, tender-looking mark on the skin, causing dryness and irritation. While it typically affects the bum and surrounding areas, lack of care and treatment can cause the spread to thighs, genitals and even the abdomen.

Causes
There are many different causes of a diaper rash. Children often suffer from rashes due to infrequent diaper changes, resulting in infection and sensitivity caused by elements in urine and stool. Similarly, adults who wear undergarments over and over again or for longer periods can develop the rash due to chafing.
Other causes of a diaper rash include tight fitted diapers or undergarments that rub against the skin. The use of certain products can also cause similar rashes.
Since these rashes affect areas that are mostly warm and moist, ignoring the problem can attract bacteria and cause serious fungal infection.
People with skin-sensitivity problems such as atopic dermatitis or seborrheic dermatitis (eczema) are more vulnerable and at a greater risk of developing such rashes and should take extra measures to prevent such problems.
Prevention
There are many ways to prevent diaper rashes.
As a parent or caretaker, change your baby’s diapers as frequently as possible. Ensure to use the best quality diapers good at absorbing liquids and keeping the skin dry for longer periods. Adults should improve their hygiene and keep their thighs, buttocks and other surrounding areas dry.
Another way to prevent diaper rashes or minimize their risk is by rinsing the affected area with warm water after every diaper change. Using cotton balls and fresh chemical-free soaps can also prevent the chances of infection. Moreover, it’s essential that you dry the skin after washing but don’t rub it harshly.
